Balinese Gamelan Music and DanceUM Gamelan Saraswati Gamelan Mitra Kusuma Nyoman Suadin, director Friday, May 6, 2011 8:00 pm - Ina and Jack Kay Theatre The UM Gamelan Saraswati and the Gamelan Mitra Kusuma present an evening of Balinese Gamelan Music and Dance. The gamelan ensembles will perform Balinese and Javanese percussion music accompanied by traditional Balinese dance. These performances are an integral part of the Balinese Hindu ceremonies honoring deities such as Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of knowledge and the arts, after which the UM gamelan ensemble is named.
