The Robert Schumann Bicentennial Festival and Conference will culminate in a performance of Schumann's Op. 50 cantata, Das Paradies und die Peri. This work for soloists, chorus and orchestra gives musical form to the Persian myth of the peri, a creature fallen from heaven and trying to regain entrance. Guest conductor Paul Goodwin, known for creative and dynamic programming, will direct the combined ensembles:
