![]() | Works by Anna SokolowDakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company Thursday, November 4, and Friday, November 5, 2010 8:00 pm - Ina and Jack Kay Theatre Dakshina, an American company committed to both the classical dance forms of Eastern India and the contemporary choreography of America, presents Works by Anna Sokolow. Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company remounts (from its own unique perspective) four works by legendary choreographer Anna Sokolow: Dreams, Rooms, September Sonnet and Frida. A student of Martha Graham, Sokolow made her mark on 20th century choreography and has influenced generations of modern dance artists and Broadway performers. Through biographical and analytical works, recordings, and videos, the UM Libraries offers the opportunity to experience Sokolow's subtle synthesis of acting and dancing. Also included is a list of newspaper articles and reviews pertaining to performances by Dakshina/Daniel Phoenix Singh Dance Company.
