Congratulations to Gemstone Award Winners

Congratulations to three Gemstone teams who were awarded prizes in the Inaugural Libraries Gemstone Award Program.

 First Place

The Donald and Katherine Buxton Award

Second and third place awarded by Friends of the Libraries

The Gemstone Honors Program engages students in a rigorous and rewarding undergraduate research experience utilizing a multidisciplinary team approach. In partnership with extraordinary faculty, Gemstone research teams advance knowledge and explore society’s urgent questions.

The annual awards from the University Libraries recognize Gemstone teams that demonstrate excellence in the research process of finding, evaluating and integrating appropriate scholarly resources in their team research proposals.  In addition, the awards recognize student teams that demonstrate excellence in the integration of principles of information literacy and who conduct research with integrity and diligence.

At the beginning of their Gemstone experience, each team is assigned a librarian to assist and guide them in their quest for information relating to their research projects. These librarians volunteer to work with teams for the three years the teams are working on their project.
