Maps & Posters

The Prange Collection contains 640 maps of Japan, East Asia and the world. These maps include oversize geographic maps, as well as folded maps of tourist attractions and local products reflecting the social and industrial status of Japan and the world at that time.

The Collection also contains 285 posters and wall newspapers, including educational charts used in classrooms, posters created by labor unions and posters used by local governments for promoting public health. The wall newspapers are hand-painted.

A selection of the posters and wall newspapers were microfilmed. The color microfiche have been scanned, and the digitized images are available on CD-Rom in the East Asia Collection (4th floor of McKeldin Library) and in the Prange Collection (4th floor of Hornbake Library).
