冊子体目録について
メリーランド大学図書館ゴードン Ｗ．プランゲ文庫では、2001年から日本財団の助成により、プランゲ文庫所蔵教育図書の目録事業を実施いたしました。最初は7000タイトルの目録予定が作業を進めるにつれ、教育関係図書・小冊子数は1万タイトルにまで増加しました。その結果は当館のオンライン目録でも検索できますが、今回、事業の終了を記念して冊子体でも「ゴードン Ｗ．プランゲ文庫教育図書目録」を出版する運びとなりました。この目録には各図書・小冊子の一般書誌情報とともにプランゲ資料だけにＧＨＱ検閲局によってつけられた検閲日、検閲番号、出版部数などを記載しました。さらに検閲処分を受けた図書や、ゲラ、原稿など出版されなかった資料のリストも加えました。書名、著者名索引はそれぞれ数十ページにも及び、その当時の教育状況や、教育界の実態を反映しています。この冊子体目録を教育機関の図書館、または教育を専門とする個人研究者に贈呈いたします。

Guide to the Prange Education Book Collection
The Gordon W. Prange Collection, University of Maryland Libraries, is pleased to announce the publication of the "Guide to the Gordon W. Prange Education Book Collection: Occupation-Period Censored Education Books."
The Prange Collection Cataloging Team, led by Akemi Noda, undertook the project of cataloging Prange education books and pamphlets in 2001 with the support of Nippon Foundation. Initially we planned to catalog 7,000 titles, but the number grew to over 10,000 titles. The records listed on the guide are comprised of general bibliographic information with local information such as censorship numbers and dates, circulations, etc. It also lists the books with censorship action taken by the Civil Censorship Detachment of GHQ. The comprehensive author and title indexes also address who wanted to convey messages, what educators thought, what teachers taught, and what students learned and studied in Japan in the immediate years following World War II.
This print guide is free of charge. The target audience for this guide is institutions, organizations, and individuals who specialize in education.
