Documents and Maps: Maps and GIS: The Map Collection houses
approximately 350,000 items, primarily from U.S. Government sources.
Coverage includes all U.S. states, most U.S. territories and possessions,
and some areas outside the U.S.
Additionally, there are two GIS (Geographic Information System)
workstations and a collection of digital spatial data. For information
on using the GIS workstations, or to make an appointment, call the

- Maryland
Map Collection: The Maryland Map Collection is a comprehensive
collection of more than 3,000 map titles depicting Maryland, the
Chesapeake Bay, and the surrounding region. The maps date from
as early as 1590 to the present.
- Sanborn
Maps of Maryland: The Sanborn Map Company produced detailed
fire insurance maps of neighborhoods from 1867 to 1970. The University
of Maryland Libraries Collection includes maps of Maryland and
Washington, D.C. Additionally, Sanborn maps are available
online (UMCP campus only).
