Instruction

Students using archival material during an instruction session in Hornbake Library

Our instruction program centers on teaching primary source literacy, which is the ability to identify, find, and evaluate primary sources. Our unique collections showcase various subjects including 19th and 20th century American History, Race and Gender Studies, Environmental History, Performing Arts, Japanese History, Media Studies, Labor History, and the history of the state of Maryland. In addition to leading instruction sessions in the classroom, we are happy to work with instructors to develop teaching materials or assignments for their students.
