Specialized Technology Lending
The TLC offers a variety of equipment* for you to check out. Please note, that this technology is different than that available through the Equipment Loan Program offered through the libraries and is available as a complement to our already great program. We hope to loan this equipment out to staff and faculty starting Fall of 2013.
Stop by for our demos on Mondays and Wednesdays at the desk 5:30pm-6pm:
April 8th and 10th: Google Nexus tablets and Bamboo Create Pen/Tablet
April 15th and 17th: Digital camcorders/cameras and DVD player
April 22nd and 24th: Portable scanners and Pen Scan
April 29th and May 1st: Portable projectors and Chargers/headphones/batteries

Policies
- Equipment can be checked out to currently enrolled UMD students only with a valid university ID. These devices are brought to you by the UMD Library Technology Fee.
- A BORROWER'S AGREEMENT must be completed and signed the first time you check out a device and remains in effect for the remainder of the semester.
- The loan period for the equipment is 8 hours. Items must be returned to the TLC Tech Desk during regular library hours.
- Equipment should not be returned in any book drop.
- Items can be renewed one time at the TLC Tech Desk if others are not waiting for the equipment.
- The Library reserves the right to refuse service to anyone who abuses equipment or is repeatedly or extremely late in returning equipment.

Borrower Responsibilities
- Prior to checking out equipment, you must:
- Complete a borrower agreement form in which you acknowledge responsibility for the equipment and peripherals checked out under your name.
- Provide a valid UMD Student ID.
- Damage or replacement charges will be charged directly to your UMD account:
- Full repair and replacement cost of all equipment checked out to you, if damaged, lost or stolen during the checkout period.
- Never leave the equipment unattended while it is checked out to you!
- All files should be stored on external storage i.e. a flash drive, email, etc. prior to the return of the equipment. Please do not store files on the equipment. Once the equipment is shut down or loses power, all files are deleted!
- Neither the University of Maryland nor the Libraries are responsible for any computer viruses that may be transferred to, or from, a user's disk or network account.
- Personal software may not be loaded onto the laptop.
- Violation of above policies will be grounds for refusal of service in the future, and/or fines.
- All use of the equipment must comply with the University of Maryland's Guidelines for Acceptable use of Computing Resources.
