Why accreditation?
Accreditation, as prescribed by the
Middle States Commission on
Higher Education, aims at strengthening and maintaining the quality of
higher education. Essentially, this process of self evaluation and peer review
assures that the University of Maryland will remain attentive to its mission and
goals, and will consistently strive to deliver a quality educational experience
based on a set of
14
standards. The materials linked below specifically relate to:
Standard 14 - Assessment of Student Learning:
"Assessment of student learning demonstrates that, at graduation, or other appropriate points, the institution's students have knowledge, skills, and competencies consistent with institutional and appropriate higher education goals."
