Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Illustrated by Anthony Browne.

London: Julia MacRae Books, 1988.

Anthony Browne is one of England’s most popular and most prolific children’s illustrators. His Alice illustrations are deceptively simple at times. One must look at least twice to appreciate the fantastic and surreal details that he deftly incorporates: For example, Alice’s face bears a striking resemblance to Queen Elizabeth II as a young girl.
