Join the University Libraries in welcoming Mark Feldstein, author of Poisoning the Press, to the Speaking of Books series special event on Tuesday, October 23, from 5:00 - 6:30 pm in the Special Events Room of McKeldin Library (room 6137).

Poisoning the Press recounts the bitter quarter-century battle between the postwar era’s most contentious politician and its most reviled newsman. The struggle between Richard Nixon and Jack Anderson included bribery, blackmail, burglary, spying, and sexual smears — even a White House plot to assassinate Anderson. In this riveting, real-life drama that the New York Times called “a master class in gutter politics,” Feldstein traces the arc of this confrontation between a vindictive president and a flamboyantly crusading muckraker.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing.  Light refreshments will be served.

The University Libraries have hosted Speaking of Books since 2005, giving dozens of campus authors a forum to engage the campus community.  For more information, please visit
