The Terrapin Learning Commons (2nd floor of McKeldin Library) will be hosting a Wikipedia Loves Humanities Edit-a-thon on Tuesday, October 16 from 3:30 - 6:00 PM. The goal of the event is to encourage the university community to experiment with editing Wikipedia articles in order to improve article content and coverage in the humanities.
The workshop is being coordinated by a class in the English Department (ENG 467: Computer and Text) taught by Professor Melanie Kill. The class hopes to facilitate an environment where everyone can see that contributing is easy and worthwhile. This event is open to the public. Anyone with an interest in Wikipedia, the humanities, or both are encouraged to attend and learn how to edit with assistance from the students.
The Wikipedia Loves Humanities Edit-a-thon is part of a larger movement called "Wikipedia Loves Libraries." For more information please see their website at http://outreach.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_Loves_Libraries.
