In the spirit of the soon-to-be showing Star Wars film, the University Libraries will be hosting Exam Wars contests and events for students. Starting at the end of this week and extending through finals week, these festivities and challenges will help students prepare for exams, find new study spaces, and relax a little before crunch time.
BB-8 Study Space Challenge.
Beginning Friday, December 4th, this Snapchat scavenger-hunt style game is meant to encourage students to become more familiar with the upper floors (3-7) of McKeldin Library and find ideal study spaces before finals week. The prize for the winner of this challenge is an App-Controlled BB-8 robot, and will be announced December 14th.
Exam Wars Illustration Contest
Students will send us a drawing of a Star Wars character, and will be entered into a drawing for their very own VIP Study Room, (modeled after the University of Dayton<http://www.programminglibrarian.org/blog/very-important-prize> study room give-away). This room in McKeldin will be available to the winner during reading day and finals week.
Exam Week Yoga
For students looking to stretch away the exam-time stress, this is the 2nd semester we will be partnering with Recreation and Wellness to offer exam-time yoga. This semester we will learn to use the force, levitate like Yoda (what?!), and fight final exam jitters with exercise. Yoga sessions will be held in McKeldin 2113 on the following dates:
Sunday, Dec 13 from 5-6p Yoga Flow (Dean)
Tuesday, Dec 15 from 8-9p Yoga Flow (Dean)
Wednesday, Dec 16 from 5-6p Yoga Flow (Dean)
(Dub)Smash Your Finals
For those students who who would rather laugh away exam fears, our Star Wars themed DubSmash contest provides a small study break and the opportunity to showcase their best Star Wars Impersonations: Wookie roars, Sand Jawa squeaks, Meesa Jar Jar Binks, you name it. Just use the DubSmash app to create an audio bit, then send it to us at email@example.com. Let the hilarity ensue. Participants will be entered into drawing for finals care packages.
