Out-of-date Warning This news post is more than three months old and may contain out-of-date information.

As you may know, Library Media Services merged with McKeldin Library over the summer in order to accommodate the College of Information Studies’s rapidly expanding undergraduate program. (For more information about the merger, including contact information for questions about specific services, please visit our FAQ).
Since July the media collections have been stored in a temporary location while the Libraries evaluated options for how to best house these materials moving forward. As we prepare to move the media collection to its new permanent home in McKeldin Library, these items will be unavailable again for a short period of time.
If you will need to use any materials from the McKeldin Library Media collection for instruction in your courses this academic year, including in the Spring 2020 Semester, please request them by Monday, November 18, 2019, so that we can retrieve these materials before they become temporarily inaccessible. Options to request include:

  • Request item (if you wish to show in the classroom)
  • Hard copy reserves (students watch in library)
  • Streaming media reserves (students watch online via ELMS)

While the media collection is unavailable, materials needed for personal use or research can be requested from other libraries via USMAI and interlibrary loan through WorldCatUMD. All measures will be taken to ensure that we provide access to the materials you need.
We thank you for your understanding, patience, and support while we are working on developing permanent solutions with respect to media services and collections.  Please contact Daniel Mack, Associate Dean of Libraries, at with any questions.
