McKeldin Library Instruction Labs
The library has four instruction labs that are available for reservation by University of Maryland faculty and staff with approval from the Libraries Teaching and Learning Services. Locations of labs in the library can be found using the McKeldin Library Floor Plan
Mck6101: 34 student computers, 1 staff computer, overhead projector, large whiteboard
McK6103*: 24 seats with flexible furniture arrangement, 2 TV carts for projection (bring your own adaptor cable for a personal computer), 1 large whiteboard, and 1 large whiteboard wall.
McK6107*: 50 seats with flexible furniture arrangement, 4 TV carts for projection (bring your own adaptor cable for a personal computer), 1 large whiteboard, and 1 large whiteboard wall.
*These rooms are BYOD (bring your own device). Laptops for students and the instructor(s), and adaptor cables must be supplied by the requester.
McKeldin Library welcomes UMD faculty and staff to reserve the labs for an individual student event or class, of up to four hours in length. These are teaching spaces and not suitable for special events (see McKeldin Special Events Room for an alternate reservable space).
Due to the high demand for reserverable space, we ask that these requests be submitted at least two weeks in advance. We are unable to accept requests beyond the current semester, or for recurring events. While every effort will be made to meet requests, lab availability cannot be guaranteed.
McKeldin librarians lead information literacy instruction sessions for over 20,000 students per year. To accommodate the needs of our faculty and students, the library is unable to accept requests for the space during the months of September, October, February, or March.
Technical assistance cannot be guaranteed the day of your event. If you have questions regarding technology, please email firstname.lastname@example.org beforehand.
6101 is equipped with Dell touch-screen desktop computers with MS platforms, as well as an overhead projector. The software for computers includes MS Office Suite, video editing, and screen capture software. For specific software names, refer to the software list. Users accept liability for any damages to the equipment that occur during the reservation.
Whiteboards and whiteboard markers for use in the classroom may be checked out at the TLC desk on the 2nd floor of McKeldin Library with a UMD ID. The TLC typically lends one whiteboard per user at a time, but you may be able to request more depending on the current demand.
When not in use by UMD faculty and staff, Mck6101, McK6103, and McK6107 serve as open study space for library users. We cannot guarantee exclusive access to the room before or after the reservation time.
Please contact Teaching and Learning Services at email@example.com with any questions.
UMD Non-Library Faculty and Staff may request a reservation for McK6101, McK6103, or McK6107 using our online form.
UMD Libraries Staff can find complete information on the Teaching and Learning libi page.
UMD Students must have a faculty or staff adviser submit a request for their group to reserve an instruction lab.
All library users are expected to adhere to the Libraries Code of Conduct Policies
