Thesis, Dissertation, Personal BindingThe University of Maryland Libraries has discontinued its handling of binding for personal copies of books and binding of dissertations and other personal publications. We have endeavored, however, to locate a suitable alternative for those in the university community who require this service.Should you want to have your thesis, dissertation, or other personal books bound, we recommend using a library bindery that follows the ANSI/NISO Library Binding standard, ensuring volumes that are sturdy, durable and flexible. Specifically we recommend Long's Roullet Bookbinders, Inc. of Norfolk, Virginia. Orders can be placed at their website at prices comparable to those previously offered by University of Maryland Libraries. Long's requires that the paper copies be sent to them for binding and do not offer a print-from-electronic file service. When making your choice of cover material, you may wish to know that the standard binding previously provided by the library was a Buckram binding. If you prefer to send a PDF file instead of paper copies, for a higher price you may have your manuscript printed and bound by contacting HF Group Bindery. Additional companies that may suit your bookbinding needs are listed on the website of the Library Binding Institute.
