We have six libraries on the College Park campus and one at Shady Grove in Rockville, where you can study, meet with a librarian, browse our collections, or take advantage of the variety of technology, equipment, and other services we offer.
College Park Campus
McKeldin Library is the main library on the College Park campus. Located at the top of McKeldin mall, it offers a wide variety of spaces, services, and general collections to support research, teaching, and learning across disciplines.
Located in the School of Architecture, Preservation, and Planning, the Architecture Library provides research support, books and magazines, access to special collections, and a quiet place to study for students in the architecture, historic preservation, real estate development and urban and community planning programs.
Located in the Parren Mitchell Art Sociology Building, the Art Library houses more than 100,000 volumes in the areas of decorative and studio arts, art history, and archaeology. The site also provides access services for the Departments of Art, Art History & Archaeology, and Sociology.
Hornbake Library is home to Special Collections and University Archives, including our reading room, exhibition gallery, and the Katherine Anne Porter Room. You’ll also find the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities (MITH) and study space for students here.
Located in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, the Michelle Smith Performing Arts Library (MSPAL) provides resources and research support for music, theatre, and dance. MSPAL is also home to Special Collections in Performing Arts (SCPA), the International Piano Archives at Maryland (IPAM), and a multi-media exhibition gallery.
Located in the Mathematics Building, the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Library provides resources and research support to students in engineering, computer, mathematical, and natural science disciplines.
The Severn Building is home to the Libraries’ high density storage facility. Located 10 minutes away from campus on Greenbelt Road, it houses unique, semi-rare, and important research collections.
Located in Rockville, Priddy Library serves users at the Universities of Shady Grove.
