The University of Maryland Libraries is pleased to announce the generous commitment of Christine '91 and Todd Fisher to establish the Fisher Family Library Faculty Fellows for Inclusive Excellence.

Through the Fisher Family Library Fellowship program, the UMD Libraries will recruit and mentor two early-career librarians with diverse backgrounds to serve as UMD library faculty members for a period of two years. During this time, the Fellows will gain critical work experience, be supported as they build their professional networks, and develop a sense of belonging in the profession and within the UMD Libraries to help launch their library careers.

“This program will enhance our library faculty ranks and improve our capacity to implement exciting new initiatives for the UMD community, while at the same time, it will help to strengthen the broader library profession,” said Adriene Lim, Dean of Libraries. “We in the Libraries have pledged to match the Fishers’ gift as we launch this essential program and secure its future. I am deeply grateful to Christine and Todd for bringing our vision to life for the Fisher Family Library Fellows.”

A graduate of UMD’s Robert H. Smith School of Business, Christine Fisher has been a Trustee of the UMD College Park Foundation since 2019. In addition, she serves as President of the MacDowell’s Board of Directors, a member of the Advisory Council at the Brown University School of Public Health, and an Emerita Trustee of Women for Women International (WWI).

“During my student days, McKeldin Library was my go-to study space,” said Christine. “Libraries are a vital part of every university campus, and I am excited to support the next generation of librarians through the Fisher Family Library Fellowship.”
