Around the Libraries

The Libraries has appointed David Dahl as Associate Dean for Digital Services and Technologies (DST). Dahl, who has been serving as the Interim Associate Dean since May 2021 in an exemplary manner, comes to this position with nearly 14 years of extensive library systems and technology experience.

“I hope to be a catalyst for a procedural, cultural and operational shift towards a more inclusive, equitable and accessible workplace.” Nneka Chisholm-Edwards (she/her) has been named UMD Libraries’ first Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Officer.

Beginning this fall semester, the John and Stella Graves Makerspace (JSGM), currently located in the Terrapin Learning Commons on the second floor of McKeldin Library will merge with the makerspace in STEM Library to make more effective and efficient use of Library resources. The Makerspace at STEM Library opens for the Fall 2021 semester on August 23, 2021.

Program introduces new award for research in Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and AccessibilityThe University of Maryland Libraries are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 Library Awards for Undergraduate Research. This year’s awardees are William L. Wong, class of 2021, Boban Dedović, class of 2021, and Jesse Anderson, class of 2022. Anderson is the inaugural recipient of the Libraries’ new award for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) research.
