Kelley O'Neal, Ph.D.

Kelley holds a Ph.D. in Geographical Sciences from the University of Maryland. She has 17 years of experience using GIS and Remote Sensing in academic, federal, and private industry settings, including agricultural, ecological, fire, carbon monitoring, and defense applications.

Dana majored in GIS and Romance Languages at the University of Maryland. She has experience with Python and Javascript. She is interested in using GIS as a tool for spatial analysis in human and physical geography research.

Julia is a Masters Student in the Geographical Sciences Department. Julia is familiar with Python, R, and the ArcGIS Platform.

Caitlin is a graduate student in the Masters of Professional Studies GIS program at UMD. She earned her BS in GIS and Art also from UMD. She has software experience in ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Cloud. She is interested in combining her artistic and technical skills in order to work in cartography.

Logan is a senior Environmental Science and Policy major with a concentration in Marine and Coastal Management and minor in Meteorology. She is exploring wildlife biology, remote sensing, GIS, and marine conservation as career paths and has worked for USFWS, NOAA, and, currently, NASA. Logan is familiar with ENVI, ArcGIS, and R.

Jim holds a B.S. in Geographical Sciences from the University of Maryland. He completed his career at the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) and now splits his time between the University of Maryland and the U.S. Census Bureau managing map collections.

Danadaree Rajapakshe

Danadaree is a student at the University of Maryland majoring in Geographical Sciences with a concentration in GIS and Cartography. She worked as a Cartographic Draughtsman for 24 years at the Survey Department in Sri Lanka. She has an Applied Geography Associate Degree, GIS & Cartography and Geography Education Certificates from Montgomery College. She looks forward to applying and improving her Cartography knowledge with new technologies. She is interested in Cartography, GIS, Remote Sensing, and Physical Geography.

Daniel is a University of Maryland senior, majoring in GIS and Computer Cartography. He is experienced in programming in Python, C, and Java, as well as using ArcMap/ArcPy, and PCI Geomatica. He is interested in strengthening and expanding his programming and GIS/remote sensing skills to work with intelligence agencies on various projects.

Evans is a senior with a dual degree in GIS and Environmental Science with a Conservation Biology concentration. He has experience with ArcGIS, HTML and Javascript. I plans to apply GIS to Conservation Biology problems in order to solve environmental issues and provide species protection for a healthier and greener future.

Logan Kline

James is a senior majoring in GIS and Computer Cartography. He is passionate about understanding the relationships between human populations and environmental change. He has experience with Python, Java, JavaScript, ArcGIS, QGIS, PCI Geomatica, and the Adobe suite (Photoshop, illustrator). He hopes to bolster his understanding and gain more experience in geospatial programming, human and environmental interactions, and data analysis in order to work for either the government or a smaller GIS/Remote Sensing company.


GIS and Spatial Data Computing Lab

Computer Lab

GIS events are held in McKeldin 4120 located on the 4th floor of McKeldin Library. The laboratory can host up to 12 individuals.

The GIS Laboratory in McKeldin 4120 was recently updated in 2018 with Dell OptiPlex machines featuring 16 GB memory. All computers have the following software packages:
