The system migration process has been ongoing since Spring 2023.

UMD Libraries launched a new integrated library management system today, May 23, 2024. UMD, along with all members of the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions (USMAI) Library Consortium, moved to the Alma and Primo systems from Ex Libris®, part of Clarivate, after having been on the shared Aleph system from Ex Libris for over 20 years. The migration process to the new system, branded as UMD Discover, has been ongoing since Spring 2023. The Libraries will continue to optimize the platform throughout the summer and will provide education and resources on using it effectively to the UMD community.

UMD Discover features an enhanced user interface and provides much-needed upgrades to core system functions for the Libraries’ operations, including acquisitions, circulation, e-resource licensing and management, knowledge organization, and more. UMD Discover offers many benefits to users, including better access and management of the Libraries' print, electronic, and digital collections as well as improved discovery of items across all USMAI institutions.

For more information about the features of UMD Discover and other resources, visit the UMD Discover LibGuide. For questions and support, chat with us via Ask Us!, contact your subject librarian, or reach out to the Primo Discovery Implementation Working Group at lib-pdiwg@umd.edu.
