Student, Faculty and Staff Directories

The University of Maryland Libraries digitized staff, faculty, and student directories from 1927 to 1961 as part of its work with the Internet Archive.  Information included in these volumes for faculty and staff consists of the individual’s name, job title, academic or administrative unit, campus address and telephone number, and residence.  Information provided for students includes name, year (freshman/sophomore/junior/senior), college in which they are enrolled, home address, local address, and telephone number; the information for students eventually expands to include their gender and marital status. The directories also occasionally include additional features, such as contact information for affiliated departments, house mothers, presidents of student organizations, members of the Board of Regents, and sorority and fraternity houses, as well as campus maps.

Prior to the printing of a separate directory, listings of faculty, staff, and students appear in the University’s course catalogs.

The University Archives also holds directories from 1973-74 to present, for faculty and staff, and 1974 to 2008-09 for students. If you wish to consult these directories, visit the Maryland Room in Hornbake Library.
